INSURANCE

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE

Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who choose not to use insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including counseling.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) explaining how much your counseling services may cost.

  • You will receive a written estimate before your first appointment and may request one at any time.

  • If you receive a bill that is $400 or more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the charges.

  • Make sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.
